Theresa, the music tutor takes safeguarding seriously, and as a mother herself, she genuinely appreciates the need to have peace of mind, knowing that their loved ones are safe. This is why she has an enhanced DBS and has signed up to the online DBS update service. Theresa's original enhanced DBS certificate can be seen in person, upon request. Also, Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay with the student for the entire lesson.
Records are kept safe, using encryption techniques such as general password protection to direct document locking. Theresa will never pass your details onto third parties or share details about the student, their learning and progress.
To offer an excellent standard of tuition, continuity of teaching, promote student’s progress and make the lessons interesting, Theresa undertakes professional study and development, learning about the latest regulations and research, teaching strategies and subject information. The information collected is used towards the lesson plans, exercises and worksheets designed by Theresa, and the latest music teaching and practice technique. Some of this information is taught during the lesson and some can be found in the issued student pack.
Everyone will have a student pack, where they will keep their music. This pack will include the student’s musical goals, chosen instrument’s hints and tips, related practice schedule, music to play and study, and as the student progresses, extra music and information will be added.
Every student will be given a learning pack. Inside, you will find details about the chosen subject, hints, tips, and instrument care.
It will include details about the student's goal, their dominant learning style, and a progress report.
This pack has been designed to be a fundamental part of the student's learning.
The Music Tutor 01 offers many musical opportunities, from formal grades with different boards, to learning a song for a special occasion. Your child may need a little bit of help with a music subject for their GCSE or A-level. Or you would like to take a public exam.
Theresa will always prepare lessons ahead of time, taking into consideration the student's learning style and subject difficulty.
Any content designed and written for the learning pack, including any photocopies are supplied for free. However, if the learning pack has been lost, a cost will be incurred for its replacement.
Textbooks issued by the grading boards such as Trinity, will need to be purchased by the student or their appropriate guardian.
All exam and accompanist fees will have to be met by the student or their appropriate guardian. However, the accompanist fee may be split between several students if they share the same exam day - more details available upon request
To recognise students' hard work, commitment and achievements, a reward programme is used. Some of these rewards include confectionary. If you have an allergy or diet requirements, please let us know so we can make the necessary arrangements.
In the future, we want to celebrate the achievement of our students by hosting a presentation followed by a party. This is currently being developed, but if you have any ideas or would like to get involved, please contact us.
There are also plans for a bursary and/or a sponsorship programme for students who show potential or who has worked specifically hard. This project is still in its planning stage, but if you have any questions or would like to help, please contact us. Once these opportunities are live, I will issue a notice to all concerned, to give them an opportunity to apply.
Lesson payments can be in cash, cheque, and bank transfer. The payment must be made, no later than the lesson day,
Discounts are given for block bookings - please contact us for more details
Cancellations should be given 24 hours before the lesson. A fee of 50% of the expected lesson may be charged if less notice is given.
By giving notice of a cancellation, will allow another student the opportunity to have a lesson. This is especially important during exam season.
